Design Philosophy
Rachel’s design philosophy is rooted in her traditional rural lifestyle, one that reflects her love of country life: rambling country homes; homegrown vegetables, fruit and freshly cut flowers; chickens; and pony rides in the local village with her children. Her collection is an expression of her own rural idyll.
The Rachel Riley collection ties the craft of fine tailoring and needlework with the skill of the seamstress and pattern-cutter. Rachel is enamoured by the creative process as much as the final product. She continues to cut her own patterns, hand-sews, knits and embroiders samples herself. Rachel is inspired by beautiful fabrics, with many of the prints used in each collection bring designed in-house and exclusive to Rachel Riley.
Traditionally inspired, each collection is made for modern living, using classic techniques and gorgeous fabrics to create fabulous pieces, you will want to treasure forever. Her atelier continues to make samples, custom-made outfits for everday or special occasions, and our ever-popular slippers, in possibly the last remaining hand-made slipper factory in France.
